Worthy Service We in our innermost being seek meaning But tend to see our downward spirals Focusing on our failures and short comings Hiding behind walls of self-preservation We think ourselves as worthless souls Forgetting those many times when the light Of God's presence led us to make decisions That resulted in helping others with their need Surely we are of more worth than we assume More precious than the things we acquire How shall we rise above the dark clouds Of oppressive schedules and greed? Stop the cycle of ill habit and "have to" By being still and alone with our thoughts Reflect on something good and beautiful Take a deep breath and utter a word Of thanksgiving for natural surroundings Where desert, jungle, sunrise, and sunset Reveal clearly the masterful brush Of the ultimate, artistic hand of God As the apex of the created order We must view our response to existence Our choice is not dependent upon How we feel or even the way we think But on our relationship to the Creator His call to each of us is to make daily Our petitions for guidance and strength An expression of our trust and loyalty Giving our first allegiance to God alone Without shame seeking his mercy Openly and honestly confessing our faults Receiving more than forgiveness and grace Accept our summons to take responsibility For the choices we make on our journey Hear daily God's affirmation of our worth (12/20/04) Colveyco Reading Room December 2004 Newsletter Go To Current Newsletter |
